This trip was booked for April 3, 2020. I think everyone knows why that didn’t happen. Sometimes I think that was just yesterday and other times I think that was ages ago.
Now we are getting ready to go again, making lists, reviewing the itinerary, the maps, rebooking the flights and more.
Namibia will be the perfect place to break free from our crazy last two years. I can’t think of a better place to go. The vast amount of land and space in such a natural environment is just what we need.
I will post the itinerary here and blog along the way way posting a many photos as I can upload while we are traveling.
More to come.
Yeah! We just heard that today, 3-16-2022, Namibi has dropped the covid testing requirement for vaccinated travelers. I know Kenya did it last week. Because we will travel direct from Newark to Johannesburg, overnight and then the following day fly to Windhoek. We will only have to meet the SA requirements which makes it just a bit easier. I don’t mind the testing, but due to the timing when traveling through a country to another it often makes the requirements a bit tricky to comply with.
The first day in Windhoek will be dedicated to getting our rental car and provisions for when we are on the road between camps. We will also review our travel routes and where we want to stop to explore along the way. Can’t wait to find the Biltong store we found at one of our gas stops last trip. I will also be looking for the icream cones with the KitKats in the middle!
Some of our drives are long so we will need water, a little food and spare tires. We will also use the Garmin InReach Satallite tracking and communication system, with an emergency rescue component.
Our itinerary which begins and ends in Windhoek includes:
Okonjima Bush Camp
Little ONgava
Mowani Mountain Camp
Swakopmund
Pelican Point Lodge
And the Omaanda
With adventures along the way we are definetly going to have a great time.
Planning is part of the fun!
More to come….
